INTRODUCTION
The Aichi International School was founded in the spring of 2000 with the mission of providing children with the skills that they will need to be contributing members of the new "Global Society" that is surfacing in the 21st century. Strong communication skills, healthy self-confidence, and a respect for others are the three main pillars of our school.
From its humble beginning of 14 students and 2 teachers, the school is now growing upwards of 80 students and 10 full-time teachers. Although the school is primarily designed for Japanese families, we also welcome our international friends. To date, we have had children from the US, Germany, Spain, Holland, India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Korea, and Russia visit our school. The Aichi International School currently offers classes for children ranging from 2-years-old up through Grade 2. With one new grade being added each year, eventually the school will offer classes up through Grade 9.

CURRICULUM
Although the Aichi International School follows the curriculum established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, all courses (with the exception of Japanese language) are carried out in English. Subjects include English language, Japanese language, Math, Life (Science & Social Studies), Art, Music, and P.E. In addition, all students participate in a Suzuki-method violin program.

STAFF
All staff members at the Aichi International School are certified in their home countries, and have degrees in education. Staff members are currently from Canada, the U.S., Australia, Britian, and Japan.

FACILITIES
A brand new school building was constructed in 2005. It includes 12 classrooms, a library, concert hall, heated floors, and solar panels for generating electricity.

SCHOOL YEAR AND SCHOOL DAY
The Aichi International School follows the Japanese calendar (April - March) but is flexible in meeting the needs of its international students. School days run Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 15:30, with after-school teams and clubs running till 17:00.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Providing a safe, healthy environment serves as the foundation of our school. Respecting the freedom of each child is an integral theme in the education of our students and special attention is given to each child's inherent individual strengths. Our ultimate goal is to provide our students with a unique educational experience whereby they can realize their potential to achieve success both as individuals and as members of their global community.
