Established in 1872 by the Infant Jesus Sisters, Saint Maur is
the oldest private international day school in Japan. The school,
which is co-educational, offers a complete academic programme from
N-12. In a Christian atmosphere, about 500 students of many races,
nationalities and creeds are helped to live in harmony and develop
their God-given gifts.
The Montessori programme is a spontaneous, expansive educational
system designed to afford the child liberty to move and act in a
prepared environment encouraging self-development.
The system used in the elementary and secondary departments allows
for an easy transition to and from American, Australian, Canadian
and European schools. The secondary curriculum offers preparation
for IGCSE, American College Entrance and Advanced Placement examinations,
and the International Baccalaureate.
Graduates of Saint Maur International School have been admitted
to prestigious colleges in the United States, Canada, Europe and
Japan.
Students participate in a variety of athletics including softball,
basketball, soccer, volleyball, and tennis. Opportunities for computer
education, drama, art and music are provided.
Saint Maur International School is accredited by the US Western
Association of Schools and Colleges, by ECIS and NEASC.
